Yesterday I cleaned my studio. I moved a larger table to in front of the window. I threw loads of junk out. I sorted my recycling. I restored some calm. Spending the afternoon in the sun, listening to my new favorite country singer—Ashley Monroe, sketching and unearthing some gorgeous embossed leathers made me feel like a whole new person and gave me a fresh creative perspective. The power of listening to country music, and the smell of leather made me desire a trip to my native South Dakota. I want to go horseback riding, drive around in my Dad’s pickup and take some photographs. I am planning to make all of those things happen this summer. You can take the girl out of the prairie, but you can’t take the prairie out of the girl.
