good morning, I spoke softly to the zig zagging rabbits on my predawn rambles

where are the coyotes? have they had their fill of rabbits this year?

a heron, walked dinosaur-like through our yard…pure awe

then pooped on my shed
I often witnessed the seals still snoozing

they sleep later (& maybe better) than I do
sometimes I would sing…good morning starshine, the earth says hello
they watched me, do they know my voice?
I whisper to shore birds that I would never harm them

or their eggs…together we all relaxed a bit

one morning loads of squid were nestled in the high tide mark
what happened to you funky creatures?

ecological disaster?v I asked Jack
well Lisa, there are many possible explanations
I’ll be right there

MORE ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS…
A deer walk by my mother-in-law’s window…magic for us both.
I spotted an elusive oriole twice…come back please.
I tried to befriend a crow, we aren’t quite there yet. Maybe next year?
We watched osprey parents trying to get their kiddos to fledge.
